 What Is the Respiratory System?
The respiratory system is the class of organs and other parts of the body involved in the exchange of gas with the environment.

When you exchange oxygen and carbon carbon(iv)oxide.

Parts of the Respiratory System are;
Nose and nasal cavity;
Sinuses;
Mouth;
Throat (pharynx);
Voice box (larynx);
Windpipe (trachea);

Diaphragm;
Lungs;
Bronchial tubes/bronchi;
Bronchioles;
Air sacs (alveoli);
Capillarie.

 Breathing

Breathing starts when we inhale air through nose or mouth.
The air travels down the back of the throat and into the windpipe(trachea), which is divided into air passages called bronchial tubes.

For lungs to perform their best, these airways need to be open.
 They should be free from inflammation or swelling and extra mucus.

As the bronchial tubes pass through the lungs, they divide into smaller air passages called bronchioles
The bronchioles end in tiny balloon-like air sacs called alveoli
The body has about 600million alveoli
.

The alveoli are surrounded by a mesh of tiny blood vessels called capillaries. Here, oxygen from inhaled air passes into the blood.

It get absorbed by the blood.
After absorbing oxygen, blood goes to the heart. The heart then pumps it through the body to the cells of your tissues and organs
.

As the cells uses the oxygen it releases carbon (iv) oxide as a by-product from the repiration, the carbon (iv)oxide goes into the blood.

 The blood then transport the carbon (iv)oxide to lungs, where it’s removed from the body when we exhale.

Tiny hairs, called cilia, along the air passages moves in a sweeping motion to keep the passages clean. But if we breathe in harmful things like cigarette smoke, the cilia can stop working. This can lead to health problems like bronchitis.
